Writing time! [1]

Today we had learnt about how to make a good essay. For the first class of writing an essay, Miss Zu had thought us about The Introductory Paragraph.  In this class, I had got new information to make a good introduction of the essay. 
Let me share it for you so that you’ll be understood clearly as me. J People also said that “the more the share, the more we get” ;) is it right? Don’t be stingy to share any knowledge. J
Let’s start our class! :D

There are 3 parts of the INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH:-

 à The Hook – Designed to grab attention immediately and give some indication about the essay’s topic.
è The Transition – Moves the reader from the hook to the driving force of the essay...
è  The Thesis – Makes the contract with the reader about what will be discussed without a blatant announcement.

Types of Hooks:-
>Personal examples
>Quotations
>Facts or statistics
>Rethorical question
>Current events
>Contrast to the thesis statement
>Definition


After Miss Zu thought us about all of this, Miss Zu divide us into several groups to make the introduction based on what we had learnt. To make a fair, Miss Zu had write down all the type of hooks on a small paper then let the leader of each group pick one of it. My groups are with Azreen and Maizatul. Azreen is the leader of my groups. J For the task, we had got about Definition. We really don’t have any idea to write about. Miss Zu had give us some idea to wrote about TRANSVERSTITE. So we decide to write a definition about TRANSVERSTITE. Class continue in the next class.

Time for grammar! [1]

1st and 2nd group Presentation time!

Hello! J  Now, in this new entry I want to share about what had happened in class today. As had been told, we have to make a presentation about grammar. There are two groups had been represents which were:
1.       Jihah and Nad – presents about NOUNS
2.       Syaz and Wawa – presents about VERBS

Before the presentation of Jihah’s and Nad’s end, they had make a game which is, we have to make a few groups which consists of 6 person. They will choose a leader to each group. The leader for each group had to go in front and had to memorise all the nouns that had been given and then, the person had to pass it to the others friend member.  We had to pass it until the last member. This game is called TOUNGE TWISTER.  Then the last member had to go in front and had to divide the nouns into the correct type of nouns.  My group had WON this game! Yeaaahhh! ;)  Congratulation guys and same go to other group too. You had done the good work! J


For Syazz’s and Wawa’s group, they had made a game which we divided into two groups. Then, we had to writes a word of verbs, one by one by each group. We can’t write the same words that had been written. The group that had the most verbs is the winner. BUT, for both groups have the same marks! We’re equal! Hohoo.. J So we’re both groups are same good!


Not only that, Miss Zu also had give us more explanation while there’re presents the topic to make us more understand. Before the class end, Miss Zu give us a work to make 100 words of regular and 100 words of Irregular verbs to make us really know the difference. J Anyway, today’s class also we had a good time! Thanks to all!

Fifth Class- Practise Makes Perfects! Yeah!

People said that practise makes perfect right? So it same goes what Miss Zu want us to do. There’re a lot of games that we had played today, every game is based on writing. 
1.  Continuous writing
2.  Quick writing
3.  Free-writing

QUICK WRITING
Miss Zu gives us a topic about “facebooking and blogging”. She asked us to write anything about it non-stop. Just write what we feel about it. We can say the differences between both of it or their advantages and disadvantages. It’s up to all of us what we gonna write. 

FREE-WRITING
This is the first time I heard about it. Miss Zu explain to us that free-writing is what we write based on whatever that are in our mind on that time. No need to think what we want to write, just write what we feel or anything.  She gave us about 5 minutes to write it, and then she asked us to crumpled it then throw it to other person. Who get the paper the person must keep it. Miss Zu asked a few persons to read what they get. 


THIS IS IT! :)







Not only that, we also play one more game which is continuous writing. In this game, we have been separated into a few groups.  Miss Zu has give us a title, which is “When Hantu’s Kak Limah meets Justin Bieber” then, from this title, we have to make our own story. Just write whatever based on our own creativity. Every group consists of 5 members. After the first person writes for 5 minutes, then it must be passed to the other group member to continue it. This will be continues until the last person. And the last person has to make the conclusion of the essay. Every group have makes a great story about it. But the best essay was from Aiman’s group.  It was really a funny essay. Love it so much! But, Miss Zu said everyone had done a good job! We’re really creative to make a story. 


For conclusion on these activities, it really trained us to be a fast thinker and make us practise to write even though it was broken English. She said that the more we do, the more we can improve our writing. It because this activity have train our brain to think faster and make us writing more than usual which is only one essay for one week.  This is a good activity! I love it so much even though I hate to writes because my grammar SUCKS and I don’t really like to think what I want to write. Is it weird? Yeah! But that’s me..hoho.. Maybe this activity can change what I am now. :) Thank a lot and a big clap to Miss Zu because can think to make this such activity!

Fourth Class – It was really fun!

Hello everyone! How are you? :) I hope all in a good condition same as well in here. It has been 2 days I haven’t post anything, right? Now, it’s time for me to post a new entry! I’m very excited to share what had happened in class today. :)


Today’s class started at 4 pm until 6 pm. First thing we do were, we were making a discussion to make a grammar presentation. Miss Zu asked us to “teach” her grammar. We have to re-cap back all the grammar.  Before we ends the presentation, Miss Zu asked us to make any game for us more understand for what we learn before. What type of game I want to do? Have some idea? Hmm..Azreen and I still searching what we gonna do. We really don't have any idea. hoho. We’re divided into several groups. One group consists of 3 people and the other group consists of 2 people.  My group only consist of 2 including me. My partner is Noor Azreen binti Ujang. Sounds familiar? Yeah! She is the same person with me in the previous presentation. :)

 Every group have it own tasks and my group have got a task about ADVERBS.  Oh my Gucci! There’re a lot of things that have in the adverbs. So, maybe it takes time to make it done. I hope can make it fast and can think about a very nice and happening game to make the presentation fun and the others can understand what they are learning on what we’ll presents later. Hopefully! Wish me luck! :)

After we makes the discussion, we played a GAME. More game? Yes!  Very nice game! The game was called “That’s Shocking!”. Don’t know what is it? It’s a game that we have to write anything that anyone did not know about us and they will surprise and shock after they know it. We have to write 4 facts about us. I’m very clueless on that time. Miss Zu gave us about 10 minutes to write it down but I don’t know what to write after a few minutes left. Miss Zu saw me that I didn’t write anything yet. She told me, “Just write any bad things you had make and people don’t know”.  Then, I think carefully what I have makes in my 18 years of my life.  I had writes down a few things that I had makes since in primary school.  Want to know what I’ve wrote?

         1.   When I was 9 years old, I have kept my brother bottle even though he had cried loudly until we reach at home. (We were from my grandma’s house and I do like that because I feel angry about something, I can’t remember about what) :D

2        2.   I had make my best friend feeling hurt just because I want to see someone that I like. (This happen on my primary school okay! I can’t think wisely that time. Huh! )

         3.    On primary school, I had lie to my parents that I said to them I always go to al-Quran class but the facts I didn’t go until they get the report card! Hoho. (I just stay at home, I didn’t go anywhere , it just because I’m not in mood that time)


After 10 minutes passed by, Miss Zu asked us to stop writing. Then, this is the best part! We have to make an aeroplane paper or we called as rocket paper then we have to make it fly. Just fly it to other people. Then, what in our hand we had to keep it and have to read it one by one in front of the class. After a person read what had written in the paper, the other members had to guess the facts is belongs to whom. My facts had been guess by Nad! Haha..You’re good Nad! How do you know? Haha..


Still wondering huh whose aeroplane paper that I have got? :) I have get Abdul Rahman’s aeroplane paper.  I had read it in front and everyone can know that was his because, he is the only want who really want to have 6 packs! Haha..  This is his aeroplane! :)








Even we’re playing this game, but we also get input because while we read the facts, if there something wrong with it, Miss Zu will make it right and explain to us. Learning while playing! It was fun right?! :)

THIRD CLASS (3): Presenting

Today’s  class is at Bilik Kuliah Sri Pegaga 4 (BKSP 4) . The class started at 8 a.m. and finished at 10 a.m. Still remember that I’ve told you about we had playing a game on the last 3 days? The ice breaking’s game? Still remember? Okay good! :) So, today’s activity is based on what we played before.

Remember right that we have to choose our own partner to do this assignment?
So, what’s going on the class today are, we have 12 couples that have been choose by ourselves, one by one of the couple have to be in front of the class and we have to tell a little bit about our partner and 4 facts about her/him. 3 of the facts must be the true and the other one must be the lie facts. While the partners are talking in front, the others must listen carefully and must be identify the lie facts.  The others who are listening have to guess which facts they lie about their partner.

My partner is Noor Azreen. We were number eleventh that have to presents in front. I had introduces her name, her last previous school, her date of birth and the 4 facts about her and she had do the same about me. Her four facts are she is a shy person, she likes to do extreme activities, she likes to swim and since standard 6, she really hope that she would have a store of bakery shop. After we had finished what we want to say, the other group members have to guess the lies facts. Do you know which one is lie? Of course you are not know which one because you don’t know her. :D Then we have to tell whether they are correct or not. Seriously, I feel very nervous on that time. I feel like I had a stomach ache and my hands was very cold on that time. But, after a short time, I used to it.

By doing this activity, I have know something about my class members that I didn’t know before. This activity also trained us how to talk in front of people and train us to be more confident. Do you want to be more confident when talking to the front? Then, ask your lecturer to do this such activity. :)

SECOND DAY (2) – Ice breaking

Today's class start at 8 till 10 a.m.  My class is at CLL 1 in Sri Laksamana. It is a computer lab.  While waiting the other members came, Miss Zu asked us to browse the internet. It is not for playing a game or look for our own facebook account, twitter, myspace or anything BUT we have to sign up new e-mail to make our blog. She knows many of us including me not make it yet, so she let us make in the class so she knows that everyone already have the blog account and no accuse if we did not make what she want in this blog.  After we have created the blog, Miss Zu told us to go outside the classroom to make an outdoor activity. Are I’m lying to you?  Of course not! .We play a game called ice-breaking. It is not just play for fun but there are assignments that she told us to do by doing this activity. We have to make two circles which is one big and one small. In that activity, the person in front of us, they have to talk about their self and same goes to us.  She gave us about 1 minute to talk and then we have to change the partner and doing the same thing. The inner circle and outer circle both have to move to the left so that we can meet different partner. We can talk whatever we want to ask or said and same time we can know about our partner and know him or her deeper. It will go around until we meet back our first partner. Then, the game is over.  Miss Zu also not excluding in this game. She played it with us.  She is my FIRST partner in this game. Can you imagine what is my feelings on that time?  I’m very nervous. Haha.. :D

The things that I have learnt from today’s class are we don’t have to be too shy to ask anyone to whatever we don’t know. We can enhance our knowledge by asking people.  Besides, today’s activities also teach me to improve my communication skills and can enhance the relationship between my class members.

FIRST DAY (1) – Introduction of BEL 260

Today is my first English class (BEL 260) in U108 at 4 to 6 pm. The first time I saw the lecturer, my heart feel uneasy. There are many questions playing in my mind. Some of it are, 

1. “Is the lecturer  is a fierce person?” ,
2. “How I’ll be studying with her this whole semester ?” . 




*sigh . It can’t be write in words what my feelings on that time. BUT once Miss Zu opens her mouth in front of us, I can feel different aura that Miss Zu give to us. I really like the way she speaks. Miss Zu speaks very fluent. Miss Zu can make us and our minds there in the classroom without allow us think about other things. She can attract us with her own way.

The first thing we learnt in this first English class is Miss Zu told us about the course information. She told us what is BEL 260. BEL 260 is Intermediate English. She told us about how many marks that we have to score for on-going assessment and for the final exam, to let us know how we can excel in this subject. Firstly, I feel “Ouh, what? Is that English is hard like this?” She seems like know what is in my or our mind. She said “Don’t too worry, that’s why I am here, to teach all of you”. Is she really can read our mind? Hahhaa.. :D

She had asked us what is non-linear text. All of us can’t answer it. Do you know what is non-linear text? I bet, maybe some of you did not know what is it right? So, let me tell you and explain what it is including for what I understand. Non-linear text is something that have table, graphs n charts. When you are in part 1, you will find this text in question number 9 if I not mistaken.  *this is what she told us, I also didn’t remember it.  hehe..
Not only that, she also told us what things that we have to do in this subject.  One of that is, she told us to make our own blog.  She asked us to make one entry for every class we have with her. Just write everything that we have learnt on that day and it must fully in ENGLISH and no MALAY at all. So this is my first blog which will write in fully English. Hope I can write better.  Till here for now.  Wish me luck guys! Take care. Keep It Simple (KIS).

My Expectations

This is my first assignment that had been given by Miss Zuraidah Sumery, my lecturer of BEL 260.  As you all know, everyone must have their own expectations for what they want for something.  Same goes to what we want in classroom. My expectations for this class are, I hope this class will be a happening class and I can understand more about English.  This semester I have to learn DEEPER about English. Yeah! I HAVE too, for my good sake. Besides, I hope there are a lot of game that the lecturer will make for us so that we can learnt while we are playing.
Not only that, I also want to know about the new words that I have ever heard and use it correctly in the essay and in my communication. I hope I can really understand what is English is. I want the end of this semester I can change my “broken English” to become a better English speaker.  Furthermore, I hope my confusion of English can be answered and I am not confused anymore.
