Shahindah's journey for BEL 260: FACT or OPINION

Assalamualaikum, Salam 1 Malaysia and Salam 1 UiTM always in my heart.

Monday, 14^th January 2013.

On this lovely day, we had learnt about how to differentiate FACT and OPINION. Miss Zu had explained about it very influenced to make sure her students can understand about it. Let me share with you what is FACT and what is OPINION. By the way, before that , do you can know what is different between FACT and OPINION? Yes? No? or 50-50? :D okay then, let me just explain it to all of you so that all of us get the knowledge. J

FACT

– is something that has been stated and has evidence. Fact is something that anyone can’t change it.

OPINION

– is a feeling, judgement, belief or conclusion that cannot be proven true by objective evidence.

Example:

--> Alexander the Great was one of the greatest military leaders in world history.

= this is OPINION because have BIASED word. (bold word) --> He was born in Pella, Macedonia.

= this is FACT because there is no BIASED word.

--> The exact date of his birth was probably July 20 or 26, 356 B.C.

= this is OPINION because have BIASED word.

--> Shortly before his 33^rd birthday, Alexander the Great died.

= this can be both (OPINION and FACT.

--> The cause of his death remains unknown.

= this is FACT because there is no BIASED word.

To make us more understand about it, Miss Zu had made an activity which she gave us a things then we had to make sentences about a FACT and OPINION. We were divided into 5 groups. We had to be the seller to promote our products to the customer. When we were presents about the products, the other members had to discussed with their own group members about how many OPINION sentences and how many the FACT sentences.
