Today’s class I had learnt about contextual reference and
obtaining meanings of words from context. It’s the part in the
examination paper. Miss Zu taught us how to answer and score for it.
To read rapidly with good comprehension, you need a wide vocabulary. We can often guess intelligently the meaning of a word or phrase which we may not know. Sometimes, we may come across a word which, when used in a different situation, has a different meaning. Using the information from where the word or phrase is found as 'cues',we can make a logical guess of the meaning of the word or phrase.
